MHP to Welcome Five New Doctors

Mahaska Health Partnership to Welcome Five New Doctors

As the primary healthcare provider in Mahaska County, Mahaska Health Partnership continually strives to ensure they are able to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community.

“We’ve been actively recruiting medical staff for a number of years,” MHP CEO Jay Christensen shared. “It’s a process that takes time because all the pieces have to fit. We’ve had some great recruiting success recently, and I’m happy to announce that by January 2014, our Medical Staff will expand dramatically.”

Christensen explained that through natural attrition such as retirements and transitions; several doctors have stopped providing primary care in Oskaloosa over the years. “The void left by these providers sometimes made it difficult for people to obtain the primary care services they needed locally. That issue should be resolved soon because five new physicians have committed to joining our Medical Staff!”

In July, MHP will welcome three new Family Practice Physicians. Drs. Peter and Tara Hoftiezer will be providing primary care for all ages. Dr. Peter will practice full time and Dr. Tara will be seeing patients on a part-time basis.

In addition, Dr. Bridget Shariat will begin providing primary care and obstetrical services. In January 2014, Dr. Lisa Ruckman will join MHP to provide primary care and obstetrics services. To complete the Hospitalist physician roster and fill an open position in Emergency Services, Dr. Ben Oldson will also join MHP in July.

“We appreciate the community’s faith in us to provide for their primary health needs,” Christensen stressed. “If you have ventured away from our health system in previous years, we invite you to take another look. We have added many outstanding primary care providers, begun offering evening hours for primary care and will be opening our new wing in the fall.”
