MHP Welcomes Massage Therapist

Mahaska Health Partnership Welcomes New Massage Therapist

Mahaska Health Partnership is pleased to welcome Licensed Massage Therapist and Oskaloosa native Michelle Hynick.

“We are very pleased to have Michelle joining our staff,” MHP Executive Director of Clinic Services Kevin DeRonde said. “She is a unique addition to our team that patients are sure to benefit from and enjoy.”

Hynick said she got interested in massage therapy through an experience she had with her son when he was six months old. “He had pneumonia and pretty much gave up on sleeping altogether,” Hynick explained. “His pediatrician gave me some literature on infant massage, so I tried it and it worked like a charm.”

Nine years later, it was her kids who encouraged her to go to massage school. Hynick chose to attend Indian Hills College and graduated through the Therapeutic Massage Program. After graduating, she worked for several months at Massage Heights in Clive before starting her own practice within Mahaska Chiropractic.

“I think the best thing about my massages is that each experience is customized for that particular person,” shared Hynick. “Whether they come just for relaxation, or they are having an issue with an injury or stress, I adjust to their particular needs.”

MHP employs two very talented Massage Therapists, Lesa Gangestad and Hynick, who are equipped to provide relaxation and relief. Chair massage, relaxation and deep tissue massage, myofascial massage, Swedish massage, reflexology and prenatal massage are offered.
