Bruxvoort Receives IHA Award

MHP Volunteer Revena Bruxvoort Receives IHA Award

Revena Bruxvoort of Oskaloosa was named Mahaska Health Partnership’s 2011 Auxilian and Volunteer Shining Star by the Iowa Hospital Association.

Bruxvoort has been an active member of the Mahaska Health Partnership Auxiliary for more than 35 years. She said she started volunteering in the MHP Snack Bar/ Gift Shop as a way to keep busy when her husband still farmed.

According to MHP Volunteer Coordinator Kim Langfitt, Bruxvoort is a wonderful asset to the MHP Auxiliary. “Revena is such an outgoing and hard worker who believes in our healthcare mission,” Langfitt said. “She is such a great cook, and not only employees but people in the community came to eat her omelets.”

In addition to her volunteerism as MHP, Bruxvoort also served as the volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity but decided several summers ago that it was time to give that up. “Revena loves people, volunteering and bowling,” Langfitt said. “She is always friendly and always has a smile on her face.  Revena has been a wonderful asset to the Mahaska Health Partnership Auxiliary.”

According to Langfitt, with the recent closing of the MHP Snack Bar/Gift Shop, a tradition has come to an end. “Revena has plans for mission trips out of the country and family vacations, but we anxiously await her return, which should be close to the time we reopen the remodeled Gift Shop.”

To learn how you can make healthcare personal by becoming a MHP Hospital Auxiliary volunteer or MHP volunteer, please call Langfitt at 641-672-3342.
